We come together in 2011 to celebrate Pittsfield’s past, present, and future and its position as the economic and social center of Berkshire County. We will celebrate the people and the creativity that helps makes us a special community.
The anniversary will kick off in April 2011 with an opening celebration and will conclude with a closing celebration on Thanksgiving weekend. Throughout the year, all major annual Pittsfield events such as the 4th of July Parade, Ethnic Fair, Third Thursdays, and the Pittsfield Art Show will take on the 250th anniversary theme. In addition, private organizations having events during the year will be encouraged to incorporate that theme into their planning. The year 2011 will bring together residents and visitors alike to share in our past history and accomplishments and to look forward to our bright future. We invite you to participate in the fun as we celebrate 250 years of progress, innovation, creativity and excitement!
The anniversary planning is being overseen by a dedicated committee of volunteers representing the City, business community, cultural organizations, historical groups, civic organizations, schools, and most importantly, YOU, the public. Stay tuned for ways you will be able to participate.
